2015 Outstanding Practice Award. The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Design and Development division awarded Dr. Debbie Denise Reese its 2015 Outstanding Practice Award for the CyGaMES 8.7 version of Selene: A Lunar Construction GaME. New features within this release provide an Integrated Assessment and Reporting System. Judging committee chair Dr. Brenda Bannon described the CyGaMEs Selene project as "innovative" and "truly a comprehensive, cutting edge example of current outstanding practice in the field of educational technology."

CyGaMEs Selene materials that won the Graphic Design USA Hispanic Graphic Design award.Graphic Design USA awarded CyGaMEs graphic artist Cassandra Lightfritz its 2013 Hispanic Graphic Design Award for P-O-P, Displays, Signs, and Exhibits. Lightfritz designed the ¡Sí! ¡Sí! ¡Selene! booth and materials.

The 15 finalists from an international pool of applicants have created engaging learning widgets that best harness the potential of digital technologies and children’s creativity to advance learning. Diehl and Dr. Debbie Denise Reese won the 2009 Best in Traditional Research award for their presentation, "Preparing Students to Learn Intractable Science Concepts with Game-based Metaphor-Enhanced Instructional Design" at the 4th Annual Western Illinois University Faculty Research Symposium.


The Veracruz Distinguished Visitor award presented to Dr. Debbie Denise Reese.Dr. Jon Gurutz Rementería Sempé, mayor of Veracruz, Mexico, named CyGaMEs principal investigator and Center for Educational Technologies senior educational researcher Dr. Debbie Denise Reese a Distinguished Visitor for her participation in the 1st International Meeting on Evaluation for Mid-Higher Level Education and College Level Education. Over 350 educators, scholars, evaluators, academics, officials, and psychometricians attended the Sept 2008 event. Reese’s keynote talk explained how CyGaMEs' Selene: A Lunar Construction GaME design and assessment opens the door to teaching and learning opportunity in networked education. The 2007 International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge semifinalist honor award presented to Dr. Debbie Denise Reese and each member of the Selene design/development team.Selene won a semifinalist honor in the category of interactive media in the 2007 International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Science Magazine.
